No…They’re not in… Alabama

Alabama Hills are the Foothills in Lone Pine on the way into the Sierra and specifically 14,505′ Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the 48 States. It’s a beautiful Bureau of Land Management Park full of  great rock outcropping and also the set for many many a Western Movie and TV show ; The Lone Ranger, Broken Arrow, The Gunfighter, How the West was Won,Mule Train. And even Sci-Fi and other adventure films Like Tremors, Iron Man and GI Jane. All in all over 400 movie and TV shows were shot on location here from 1920 to the present.

So it was fun for me and Wayne to walk around here, still making believe he was the Lone Ranger and I was Black Bart. Pew Pew, Pew Pew (That’s the sound of gunfire from a six-shooter)

Only regret was that the Storm Clouds that threatened but never carried through on us, obscured all views of the Sierra. That would have been cool.

Here’s the images from the day, Enjoy (Click images to enlarge)
